Proud to Present: a gorgeous new website for Helen England Photography

I'm so excited to be writing this post! Where do I begin?

I've known Helen for probably 8 years, since she launched her own business. We printed her first set of business cards for her when she left the world of sure-thing-salary for the roller coaster ride of small business ownership. I immediately loved Helen's photography style, and Dan and I vowed back then that we'd have Helen photograph our wedding were we ever to get hitched.

Needless to say that over the years, Helen has been a client, a friend and has photographed mine and Dan's wedding - a job I couldn't imagine anyone else having done so beautifully. She is hilarious, crazy-passionate about her work, and owns an endearingly bonkers vocabulary of words such as 'wickeeeeeeed' and 'amazeballs'. Honestly, if I had a pound for every time one of those words left her lips...

Helen had been suffering the frustration of standing out in a highly competitive market place, and trying to win over price-conscious brides. This website was not only about giving her business a facelift, but re-positioning  to appeal to those who really value their photography and want somebody with them for the journey. It was about making a great big step forward, owning our space and putting some real distance between Helen and other photographers who are happy to compete on price and schlep along to every wedding fair going in a bid to win work. I never underestimate how scary it can be for clients to nudge themselves off the shelf of same-ness and into their own space of untested water. It's undeniably tempting to follow the herd and just say the same things as the next business, but you'll never stand out that way. It takes real courage to recognise what you're great at and go out there with a different message: I'm so glad that Helen took our advice and threw her personality at this new website.

Towards the end of last year, Helen decided to finally take action on the website she'd outgrown long ago. The old website was clunky to navigate, displayed her beautiful photographs at the smallest size you can imagine and really lacked focus.  It was high time that things changed. Here's what it looked like before we got our hands on it...

And here's the new look....

Her gorgeous new website is contemporary and elegant. Giving her images plenty of room to spread their wings, we've completely embraced Helen's style, and celebrated the personality of her business which makes working with Helen such a pleasure. Having the confidence to pare back the hundreds of weddings she's photographed to just twelve favourites helps to show off her photographic style, and has given her space to talk about the story behind each wedding in a really engaging way.

Isn't it just fab?!
