What can you do to make sure your customers don't forget you?
I love the guys at iPilot. We began working together at the beginning of this year, and I'm really proud of everything we've produced for them so far. As such a unique business (they offer flight simulator experiences where you get to have a go at flying a plane - trust me, it's incredible!), they're lucky in having huge scope for running exciting, unusual promotions to capture their customers' imaginations. During the course of the year, we've produced scratchcards giving customers a chance to win a champagne flight experience, flyers to promote their brand new Flying Club, banners to promote their Christmas voucher packages and lots of other bits in between. Amongst all of this, one of my favourites is probably one of the most simple. When you fly with iPilot, you have the option of having your photo taken in the captains' seat, making a really lovely momento to take home. To present the photos and make them look a bit more tidy and branded, we've designed and printed some beautifully simple photo cards - a bit like a greetings card with slots inside to hold your photo in place. We used a gorgeous heavy matt laminated card which feels really luxurious - and gives a fantastic finish to the bright red design. Have a look:
We've turned these cards into an opportunity to show off some of iPilot's images of their team and simulators too - but of course it's the customers' photo which takes pride of place in the card (yes, that's me!).
While this is lovely for the type of business that iPilot operate, it's not really practical for all of us to present customers with photos after each transaction. That's no excuse for not getting inventive with your promotions though - what about giving away little presents like pens, keyrings, mugs, calendars, notepads or diaries with your branding all over it? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this - how do you make sure that your customers don't forget you?
