Recommended reading: Build a Business from your Kitchen Table
I finally laid my hands on a copy of Build a Business from your Kitchen Table (written by the brilliant ladies who founded Notonthehighstreet.com, Sophie Cornish and Holly Tucker) earlier this year, and I'm so glad that I did. It's a thoroughly inspirational read, whether you're on the precipice of launching a brand new business, or have a business going already - there'll be something in there for you. What I really took away from the book was that everybody faces the same challenges in business. It's easy to look at someone who's business turns over several million a year and think that they've got it easy, but the reality is that everyone faces the same not-enough-hours-in-the-day and cashflow issues in those scary early days - and sometimes, they're still facing those challenges when their business makes it to the big time, too.
This book is written honestly, from the heart and with an unshakable authenticity and practical approach which I defy you to love. Whether you need motivation to start a new project, or the comfort of knowing that someone else has endured your struggles too, this is a book that will really get you thinking. Make sure you have a notebook by your side when you read it; you'll be wanting to scribble things down! Go get it - and let me know what you think.
