Proud to Present: A celestial inspired brand identity for wedding photographer, Daria Nova
Lovely Daria Nova approached us when she'd made the gutsy move to quit the day job in pursuit of a more inspiring, fulfilling and rewarding way to make a living as a full time wedding photographer.
Having started to build a reputation as a wedding photographer a few years ago, Daria's clients love her for her laidback approach and ability to coax even the shyest of introverts out of their shell, creating beautifully romantic and nostalgic documentary style wedding photography. Her creative style is soft, relaxed and natural and prefers to shoot intimate weddings where the focus is on people and a genuine celebration of love – weddings with soul, not just for show. Her approach is simple, pared back and honest. Never contrived, never trying to be something that isn’t really there, her images are a truthful account of the romance, magic and wonder that unfolds in front of her camera.
The season personality
The seasons which best represent Daria Nova are Summer and Autumn. Summer is the season that best reflects her brand; intuitive, observant and creative. The calmest and most reserved of all the seasons, Summer personalities are more introverted and are happiest when they are in the background. They never miss a thing; exceptionally perceptive, they pick up on all the little things that can make a big difference.
Autumn personalities meanwhile are warm, welcoming and hard working. They love originality, honesty and anything unusual – they prefer to do things their own way rather than following convention. While Summer represents quality, simplicity and romance, Autumn brings the sense of warmth, nostalgia and originality.
As always when working with a creative brand, we started by considering Daria's images and the softness and warmth that they communicate. We wanted to capture a mood that’s soft, romantic, quirky and creative, with a slightly nostalgic twist.
There’s a warmth and confidence to this brand – it feels stylish and aspirational thanks to warm tones and metallic touches that add to the luxe mood. Yet metallic are burnished rather than glitzy, giving an aged and vintage feel which is established and trustworthy.
On to the colour palette. I adore this colour palette! It’s deliberately refined and simple – too many colours would undermine the confidence that we want to inject into your brand. Bronze provides a metallic glint that you’d associate with a premium brand; ochre is warm, uplifting, positive and happy. Cotton is a richer and softer alternative to bright white which is elegant, chic and gentle. Midnight blue is established, trustworthy and balanced. A vintage teal blue is creative, calm and unusual.
The primary logo for this brand is delicate, beautiful and unusual. We love the subtle quirk of the typographic style, which creates a distinctive shape without being over the top. We’ve set Daria's name in capitals for a confident feel, and been careful to allow plenty of space between each letter for a premium mood. We love the strap line ‘never a moment lost’ which has a slightly whimsical feel to it while capturing the essence of her brand, her talent and what makes her so special. We also love the little wave – a gorgeous little accent and a brilliant way of filling the space in the gentle curve without a clumsy brand element.
