A little bit of reading during unsure times
As the sun shines brightly at the farm this morning and the joyful bleating of lambs fills our ears, it's difficult to reconcile our minds with the mad old world we have all found ourselves in. I know a great many people are feeling extremely anxious; for their health, the health of loved ones and for what this unprecedented situation means for our businesses.
An uncertain climate is always a worrying one; as a society, we tend not to thrive on unknowns. And whilst there's much that's out of our hands, we can all control how we respond and what we do next. It's important and empowering to remember that whilst some decisions will be made by government, we do still have choice, and exercising that can help us feel a bit more grounded, a bit more in control, a bit more secure.
With that in mind, I'm hopping into your inbox with some blog posts which I really hope will be helpful to you over the coming days. First of all, this piece about planning in uncertain times (does Brexit and the election madness in the UK feel like a distant memory to anyone else?) will, I hope, provide some simple, practical pointers to help you regain a sense of control. Next, this post about sharing your story is really valid at absolutely any time, but now seems like a good moment to think about how you can weave your unique message into your business. Finally, I'd love to share my thoughts with you about community, which seems especially poignant right now. This post is about the power and spirit of community. Although we might need to isolate physically, we need each other now more than ever and I passionately believe we should support each others' small businesses however we can.
A parting thought for you; if there's one thing we have on our side, it's that we can be nimble and we can innovate, quickly. Can you adjust your offering to provide your services remotely? Could you launch an online offering? Perhaps you could partner up with another business to create something new? There is always, always opportunity, if you want to find it.
Stay safe out there, and be well.
