A beautifully calm, restful brand identity for stone Sculptor, Jennifer Tetlow
Based in North Yorkshire, Jennifer Tetlow creates beautiful pieces of stone sculpture which are enjoyed in homes, gardens and public spaces across the UK. Jennifer’s commissioned works include an Otter for the Historic Royal Palace, Hillsborough Castle, a piece for the Burrell Museum Collection in Glasgow, and a Pikorua for the New Zealand Garden in Valley Gardens in the centre of Harrogate.
Having grown up in Yorkshire and surrounded by quarries, an appreciation of stone runs through Jennifer’s veins. Quarries are a place of explosions, monster machines and brutal excavation, yielding stone which almost deserves sanctuary after its rough handling. There’s something quite remarkable about a material that has been formed over millions of years by the forces of nature – the weight of the earth and the turbulence of the sea, which holds such potential to be crafted into a soft, elegant and graceful expression of an animal or bird. The magic of yJennifer’s work lies in this juxtaposition – the rawness of the material and the elegance of the subject, the two intertwined to create something that holds energy and meaning, while embodying the spirit and essence of the subject.
Well established in her career, Jennifer approached Ditto as she was keen to elevate her presence in the marketplace and attract more of the commission work that she most loves to do. The brand we created feels both artful yet earthy, contrasting elegant typography and hand drawn illustrations with warm imagery that celebrates natural light and texture. We were delighted to launch her website this week, and look forward to seeing the impact that this refined brand identity and website has upon Jennifer’s business.
