A contemporary brand identity for Mele, a female founded auction house
Founded by the remarkable Tahmina Ghaffar (you might recognise her from BBC’s Antiques Roadtrip) and the brilliant Kat Murphy, Mele is a contemporary female-founded auction house, selling highly covetable pieces to a modern audience. With an aim to put a fresh, accessible spin on the rituals of buying and selling at auction, Mele marries an aspirational buyer experience with highly desirable, conversation-worthy pieces. In a traditionally elitist industry, the Mele team aim to cultivate genuine synergy between the auction house and our patrons, where each buyer feels equally appreciated, welcomed and valued.
With huge respect for the value of the items they sell, Mele provides a platform from which pieces of art and beauty find new homes. Selling items from all corners of the globe, a worlds’ worth of treasure can be discovered within each of carefully curated collection. Every sale holds the promise of magical things yet to be discovered and the tantalizing opportunity to become the new custodians of enviable objects; artefacts of another era. And while items of beauty are a joy to have, it is the story that envelops them where greatest meaning and resonance can be found. By better understanding the tangible things in our lives, we better understand our fellow humans, providing a sense of shared humanity - a captivating concept in this increasingly transient world.
“Our mission is for Mele to become a
destination to buy and sell items of beauty and meaning, nurturing an appreciation of the way we live, create and enjoy art – then, now and in the future.”
Above all, Mele is a brand for enthusiasts, collectors and those who simply love beautiful things, inspiring a new generation to engage in the thrill of buying at auction. The visual identity captures the teams’ contemporary view, with a respectful nod to the heritage of the items they represent. Rich, warm and aspirational, we sought to create a style which felt akin to that of a gallery - with a subtly feminine undertone to bring through a sense of grace and compassion.
Mele is due to launch early in 2026, and we’re so excited to see what lies ahead for this brilliant business.
